REGULATIONS
OF
THE
NATURAL
RESOURCES
OF
THE
PUBLIC
SERVICE
TITLE
These
regulations are established under authority of By-Law 6, Section 9 of the
Natural Resources Union By-Laws and shall
hereafter be known as the Natural Resources Union Regulations.
REGULATION 1 - LIFE AND HONORARY MEMBERSHIPS
(Amended at the
April 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 1981 Council meeting)
Section (1) - Life Memberships
1.01 A life membership shall be awarded only to
a person
who is a member
of the Natural
Resources Union at
the time the
application
for such membership is made.
1.02 Nominations for life
memberships in the
Natural Resources Union may be
made by any chartered Local or any member of the
National Council in respect of
any member who
has made Outstanding contributions to this Component or its
predecessor
organization.
1.03 All nominations for life
memberships shall be
submitted on the prescribed form to the National Executive
in care of the Assistant
to the
President.
1.04 As the granting of
life membership is
the highest award
the Organization can bestow, the contributions made by the nominee
must be
outstanding and readily recognizable as such.
1.05 All applications for life memberships in
the Natural Resources Union shall be reviewed by the Standing
Committee on Honours
and Awards which will make appropriate recommendations to
the National Council.
1.06 All decisions on the awarding of life
memberships in the Natural Resources
Union shall, in all circumstances,
require a two-thirds
(2/3) majority
of the National Council
assembled in regular meeting and voting by
secret ballot. The total number
of life
memberships
shall not exceed ten (10) at any time.
1.07 Life membership conferred
upon a member shall
entitle said life member
to all rights
and privileges of
membership without
requiring
payments of per capita tax to the Component.
Such per capita tax as deducted throughout check-off procedures shall be
refunded to the
life member from the Component funds once a year.
1.08 A distinctive and suitably
worded plaque signed by
the National President shall
be presented to
the person awarded
life
membership at
the earliest opportunity.
1.09 A list of life memberships
shall be established and maintained by the Assistant to the President.
1.10
A person who has been granted life membership
in the Natural Resources Union
shall have his
life membership placed in
Abeyance for the duration of his
employment in the Public Service while he/she is
employed in any position where he/she is barred
from participation in
the affairs of the P.S.A.C. by reason of the terms and conditions of his/her employment or
any requirement of
the Public
Service Staff Relations Act.
REGULATION 1 - Section (2) Honorary Membership
2.01 Nominations for honorary membership
in the Natural Resources Union may be made by any
chartered Local or
member of the
National Council in respect of any
individual who for one reason or another is not eligible for
regular membership and who has
made
an outstanding
contribution to the Natural Resources
Union or its predecessor organization.
2.02
All nominations shall be submitted on the prescribed form to the National Executive in care of the
Assistant to the President.
2.03 "Outstanding
contributions" shall mean a
contribution of a very
significant nature involving a single incident or several incidents of
high calibre
over a period
of time. This contribution or
the incidents can have been rendered to any level of the organization.
2.04 All applications for
honorary membership in
the Natural Resources Union
shall be reviewed by the Standing Committee on
Honours and Awards
which will make appropriate recommendations to the National Council.
2.05 All decisions on
the awarding of
honorary membership in the
Natural Resources Union
shall, in all circumstances, require a
two-thirds (2/3)
majority of the
National Council assembled
in regular meeting and voting by secret ballot.
2.06 Honorary members
shall not be
required to pay
dues to the Alliance
and shall not
be entitled to
vote at meetings
or to
elections to
office in the

A

person awarded honorary
membership at
the earliest opportunity.
