TRANSLATION POLICY

 

It shall be the policy of this component to provide written documentation to its members in accordance with the following:

 

a)   For all Locals located west of Toronto, Ontario and in the Yukon and Northwest Territories all documentation shall be provided to those Locals and their membership in a unilingual English format.

 

b)   For all Locals located in the National Capital Region all documentation shall be provided to those Locals and their membership in a bilingual format provided that such format is available.  In the event that a bilingual format is not immediately available the contemplated documentation shall be sent in the English language and a translated copy shall be forwarded as soon as it becomes available.

 

c)   For all Locals located in the Province of Quebec all documentation shall be provided to those Locals and their membership in a unilingual French or bilingual format provided that such format is available.  In the event that one of the above noted formats are not available the documentation shall be provided in English and an official translation shall be provided without undue delay.

 

d)   For all Locals in the Maritime Provinces including Newfoundland all documentation shall be provided to those Locals and their membership in a unilingual English format.

 

e)   All correspondence emanating from the Component National Office addressed to "All Locals" shall be provided in a bilingual format.

 

f)    All correspondence, newsletters etc. that are mailed directly to a member shall be sent in the language of preference provided that the National Office has the language preference of that member.  In the event that a language preference is not available, the member shall receive the above noted documentation as follows:

 

       i)   For all provinces and the Territories excluding the Province of Quebec;  English.

      ii) For the Province of Quebec;  French.

 

g)   All written convention information shall be provided and available in both French and English.

 

       i)   For all provinces and the Territories excluding the Province of Quebec;  English.

      ii) For the Province of Quebec;  French.

 

h)   All written convention information shall be provided and available in both French and English.

 

i)    The minutes of all National Council meetings shall be available in both French and English.

 

j)    Simultaneous translation shall be provided for at all Triennial National Conventions of the Natural Resources Union.
